Actility strengthens its position on the Dutch energy market

Actility, the industry leader in Low Power Wide Area Networks (LPWAN), has been active on the Benelux market for already quite a while thanks to its highly competitive IoT network solutions. Earlier this year, the company announced its partnership with Dutch telecom operator KPN in the Netherlands where a LoRa™ network is being deployed enabling the Internet of Things.

Besides the deployment of IoT networks worldwide, Actility has been active for years in the French and Belgian energy markets. The company has decided to enter the Dutch energy market, providing smart energy solutions.

Sustainable energy means a need for flexibility; sun and wind are simply unpredictable energy sources. In order to make efficient use of these   renewable energy sources, it is necessary that an aggregator such as Actility monitors the demand for energy as accurate as possible to help aligning the changing energy supply, without compromising business operations at risk.

Actility is an independent aggregator that supports companies with new and intelligent applications to regulate their energy process in real-time. Actility helps industries optimize the operation of their systems based on the electricity prices. Electricity consumption is scheduled on a day-ahead basis and updated regularly depending on real time prices.

At times with a limited supply of energy and high electricity prices, it makes sense to decrease energy consumption and shift t consumption to moments of higher supply and low electricity prices. As well as participating companies received an allowance, they also contribute to the integration of renewable energy and the decrease of CO2-emissions.

Laren, 14 maart 2016 – Actility, de marktleider in Low Power Wide Area Networks (LPWAN), staat al enige tijd in de picture op de Benelux-markt dankzij haar zeer competitieve IoT netwerk oplossingen. Eerder dit jaar kondigde het van origine Franse bedrijf aan dat het, in samenwerking met KPN, in Nederland een nationaal LoRa™ netwerk uitrolt waarmee het Internet of Things mogelijk wordt gemaakt.

Naast het uitrollen van IoT netwerken wereldwijd, is Actility in Frankrijk en België via Actility Benelux ook al jaren succesvol actief op de energiemarkt. Het bedrijf heeft nu stappen gezet om ook de Nederlandse markt te voorzien van slimme energieoplossingen.

Duurzame energie brengt de behoefte aan flexibiliteit met zich mee; zon en wind zijn nu eenmaal moeilijk voorspelbare energiebronnen. Om zo efficient mogelijk gebruik te kunnen maken van deze hernieuwbare energiebronnen, is het noodzakelijk dat een aggregator zoals Actility de energievraag zo nauwkeurig mogelijk  helpt af te stemmen op dit wisselende aanbod, zonder daarbij bedrijfsactiviteiten in gevaar te brengen.

Actility is een onafhankelijke aggregator die met nieuwe en intelligente toepassingen bedrijven ondersteunt bij het slim en in real-time reguleren van het energieproces. Het bedrijf heeft als doel het flexibiliseren en daardoor optimaliseren van de energievraag, waarbij er zo slim mogelijk gebruik wordt gemaakt van de opgewekte energie en/of verbruik wordt ingepland op het beste moment.

Op momenten met een beperkt aanbod van energie en hoge elektriciteitsprijzen is het zinvol om het energieverbruik te verlagen en het verbruik te verschuiven naar momenten met hoger aanbod en lagere elektriciteitsprijzen. Naast dat deelnemende bedrijven hiervoor een flexibiliteitsvergoeding ontvangen, dragen ze zo ook bij tot de integratie van hernieuwbare energie en het verminderen van CO2-uitstoot.
