Press Release – 20 February 2023 – Paris, France
Actility, in joint work with Pepperl + Fuchs, known around the world as a pioneer and an innovator in electrical explosion protection and sensor technology, and akenza.io a low-code IoT platform, now offer a new IoT solution for smart level monitoring and management solution.
The solution is using LoRaWAN® connectivity and includes the Pepperl + Fuchs WILSEN.sonic.level battery-operated wireless level sensor, LoRaWAN ® Network Server and Management platform from Actility – ThingPark Enterpise, and the application operated on the akenza IoT platform. It is used to remotely monitor fill levels in containers, tanks, and silos, as well as monitoring water levels of rivers, lakes, and flood basins.
This IoT Smart Level Monitoring is now available on ThingPark Market, Actility’s IoT solutions marketplace!
The solution is used to monitor fill levels in containers, tanks, and silos remotely. In addition, river, lake, and flood basin water levels are monitored. More than just filling levels are transmitted by the sensor. GPS data from the sensor enables the tracking of assets such as containers, while other information such as temperature readings and battery charge status enable predictive maintenance capabilities.
The solution is a must-have for those who face daily challenges such as environmental and natural disaster risks, such as rivers and lakes overflowing their banks and flood basin levels, because they conduct manual observations rather than using technologically stress-free environments.
Another significant challenge that our solution may face is that waste management executives are frustrated with the non-interconnected waste management system. Managing waste management crews is a difficult task. They require a remote monitoring system to ensure that the containers are only collected once they have been filled to a predetermined level.
Smart Farming: Food and energy are both supplied by modern agriculture. Farmers can use the WILSEN.sonic.level to remotely monitor the fill level of distributed feed silos or the pit of a biogas plant. Using an IoT system like this relieves the farmer of inspection rounds and frees up time for important tasks in his efficient operation.
Smart Environment: The wireless sensor WILSEN.sonic.level measures river, lake, and flood basin fill levels. It transmits additional information such as temperature, geolocation, and battery status over long distances, allowing for better flood protection.
Smart Cities: Cities and municipalities are under increasing pressure to provide citizens with convenient, environmentally friendly living arrangements. The WILSEN.sonic.level enables intelligent disposal management, in which the filling levels of used glass, old clothes, and recyclables containers are remotely monitored and collected only when they reach a predetermined level.
Smart Logistics: In a globalized world, efficient supply chains must not run out of raw materials and supplies. The WILSEN.sonic.level aids in determining tank or silo fill levels. It enables the supplier to provide their customers with a supply logistics system that is tailored to their specific requirements.
The battery-powered wireless ultrasonic sensor WILSEN.sonic.level from Pepperl+Fuchs can be used for remote monitoring of all types of fill levels. The level, as well as additional parameters such as geo data and status data of the sensor, is recorded at adjustable time intervals. The data transmission is wireless via LoRaWAN. By using a mobile device (iOS/Android) and the WILSEN app belonging to the sensor, the sensor can be comprehensively parameterized.
This Pico gateway is appropriate for small business or private area use cases such as parking, exhibition center, or campus, among others.
Choose a prestaging platform based on your needs:
We recommend our free cloud-based ThingPark Community platform for proof of concept and non-commercial use. If you select this option, your gateway(s) will be pre-configured and provisioned on the ThingPark Community platform by the ThingPark team. If you do not already have a ThingPark account, the team will create one for you using your registered email address.
We recommend using our ThingPark Enterprise SaaS production platform (TPE SaaS) or ThingPark Enterprise On-Premise platform for commercial operations (OCP). TPE SaaS is georedundant, fully managed 24 hours a day, and offers SLAs. “ThingPark Enterprise (TPE) OCP is a complete on-premise platform that is available in both standalone and high-availability deployment modes. You must have an active subscription to use TPE SaaS or TPE OCP. For commercial deployments, use these options and choose the appropriate region.
